Scriptworks begins 2025 with a bang as we head into the arena of publishing. Starting with the Diamond Alice universe, a series of novellas will come out based in the world, emulating an episodic feel and momentum. Further stories set in the Hellbourne and Death by Caravan universes are planned for later in the year, so watch this space! 

Gossip has already had it's first nomination for 'Best Narrative Short' at the Berlin Women Cinema Festival. Unfortunately, we didn't win, but we were honoured to make it that far. 

On April 21st 2024, Gossip had it's first screening to the public at Hailsham Pavilion Cinema. The film was well-received and we had some really great comments about it. 

After a successful day's shoot, short film 'Gossip' is now in post-production. Our most ambitious project yet, we filmed with two locations, a team of twenty cast and crew, including two children, and shot twenty-five pages in one day. Based on a Shane Meadows-esque dialogue, the story focuses on one day in a hairdressing salon, where owner Nicole is struggling to handle kids, clients, an aggressive landlord, and a ditzy partner. We're looking forward to screening this one as soon as we can! 

We're over the moon that 'Halfway Hotel' has been selected as a Semi-finalist for 'Best Women Empowerment' at the Berlin Shorts Festival. 

It's all go for the Scriptworks team again as we go into development with two shorts, aiming to get both produced and edited by this November. 'Gossip' is a short focused on the stories of multiple women, set in a hairdressing salon, and 'Not Perfect' focuses on a family with a child at a special needs school. Both hone in on the difficulties of post-pandemic life. 

We're very proud to announce that our tv pilot script 'Adams and Eves' has made it to the final twelve selections of the Jed Mercurio Mentorship Programme, but not for the final six for further mentorship. The team fed back that 'the field was remarkably strong; being shortlisted means your talent shone through among a very competitive field.' 

Gino had a fun day shooting in the woods near Hastings with 'The Hastings Wild Men and Women'  for the next video for Thee Headshrinkers, titled 'Wild Thing'. Click the photo to watch it on Youtube. 

Following the BFI Doclabs weekend, Emily was invited to attend a 'Script and Pitch Day' with Guardian labs producer Katya Ochogavia. It was great to catch up with some of the other BFI Doclabs cohort, and some great development and pitching polishing was done.

Emily had a great time at the BFI Doclabs course, with two jam-packed days of lectures from some amazing documentary film makers and producers. We can't wait to start putting all the information in to practise.
