On April 21st 2024, Gossip had it's first screening to the public at Hailsham Pavilion Cinema. The film was well-received and we had some really great comments about it. 

After a successful day's shoot, short film 'Gossip' is now in post-production. Our most ambitious project yet, we filmed with two locations, a team of twenty cast and crew, including two children, and shot twenty-five pages in one day. Based on a Shane Meadows-esque dialogue, the story focuses on one day in a hairdressing salon, where owner Nicole is struggling to handle kids, clients, an aggressive landlord, and a ditzy partner. We're looking forward to screening this one as soon as we can! 

We're over the moon that 'Halfway Hotel' has been selected as a Semi-finalist for 'Best Women Empowerment' at the Berlin Shorts Festival. 

It's all go for the Scriptworks team again as we go into development with two shorts, aiming to get both produced and edited by this November. 'Gossip' is a short focused on the stories of multiple women, set in a hairdressing salon, and 'Not Perfect' focuses on a family with a child at a special needs school. Both hone in on the difficulties of post-pandemic life. 

We're very proud to announce that our tv pilot script 'Adams and Eves' has made it to the final twelve selections of the Jed Mercurio Mentorship Programme, but not for the final six for further mentorship. The team fed back that 'the field was remarkably strong; being shortlisted means your talent shone through among a very competitive field.' 

Gino had a fun day shooting in the woods near Hastings with 'The Hastings Wild Men and Women'  for the next video for Thee Headshrinkers, titled 'Wild Thing'. Click the photo to watch it on Youtube. 

Following the BFI Doclabs weekend, Emily was invited to attend a 'Script and Pitch Day' with Guardian labs producer Katya Ochogavia. It was great to catch up with some of the other BFI Doclabs cohort, and some great development and pitching polishing was done.

Emily had a great time at the BFI Doclabs course, with two jam-packed days of lectures from some amazing documentary film makers and producers. We can't wait to start putting all the information in to practise. 

We're really pleased to announce that our documentary pitches have earned Scriptworks a bursary for the 2022 BFI Doclabs cohort. The residential weekend will be run by Resource Productions in Slough, and feature lectures and workshops from Academy and BAFTA winning producers and directors. 

Scriptworks is really proud to announce that a script written by our own Emily Isaacs has reached the top ten finalists of the BAFTA Rocliffe 2021 TV Drama Competition and Showcase. While it didn't quite reach the top three to be included in the showcase, it was an enormous achievement for the script, which was read by an impressive  and illustrious panel and jury of industry members. In another stunning win for our first short film, 'The Chased' was voted to be the 'Best Short Film' at the South Coast Film Festival this morning.  The young film festival, hosted in Hastings, will have its screenings and ceremony at the Electric Palace Cinema on October 2nd.

For the price of a cinema ticket (£8.50/$12.00)  you can view our short along with 113 others. The top 5 of which go through to a judged round, and the winner of that is screened at Pinewood Studios and Raleigh Studios in Hollywood! Fantastic news as we won the award for 'Best First Time Female Filmmaker' at the Toronto International Film Festival for June 2021. We now go on to the annual awards in September - so keep watching this space! The film's listing is now in the Toronto Film magazine and can be seen here.

We're very proud to announce the start of our first co-production with Aston Productions. 'The Ragglesnatchers' will be a short IGTV docudrama, based on the story world of Diamond Alice - more news on this soon!  

After months of hiccoughs and delays in post, we're very pleased to announce that this short is filming today! Well done to the team for getting this going, as it's been a very difficult time to get any projects off the ground. Written by Cera Rose Pickering, the story is a heartwarming tale of a homeless mother and her sons who find shelter in a disused and empty hotel. 

We were very pleased to discover that Emily and Gino were awarded a "Best Director' laurel and certificate from the Reale Film Festival for The Chased. They'll now be included for consideration for a yearly award, decided in December.
